The Science Behind HFS®
1、Rooted in Brain Science
Our methods are grounded in how the brain learns best—through movement, rhythm, and meaningful connection. Each HFS® session is thoughtfully designed to activate attention pathways and reinforce self-regulation through repetition, structure, and warm interpersonal coaching.
2、Brain-Body Integration in Action
Children engage in exercises that challenge balance, cross-body coordination, and motor planning—activities proven to strengthen connections between the body and brain. These movement-based tasks are more than play—they build stamina for attention and create a foundation for learning.
3、Sound That Supports Focus
We use specially processed music delivered through bone conduction headphones. This allows a range of sound frequencies to stimulate different brain regions without disrupting verbal interaction, helping children regulate sensory input while staying connected to their coach in real time.

“My son has been attending Cogleap’s classes for 4 weeks now. Teacher Lucy did a great job encouraging my son in the training, making him perform well beyond expectations. In return, my son loves Lucy very much and is always very happy to attend class. We hope that after completing the entire training, he will be more focused, time-efficient, and independent. Cogleap also provided lots of parenting advice and went the extra mile to consult with my wife and me. That alone already started helping us improve our family relationships and make our home more peaceful. Overall, I highly recommend Cogleap for their kids’ training class.”
Kerwin Hua

“I came into contact with Cogleap by chance. After learning about their advanced concepts and training methods, I signed up for 60 hours of training for my children with the attitude of giving it a try. I really didn’t expect that after my child participated in this training, he would become more optimistic and positive—he even became more motivated to learn. As a parent, I am lucky to have come into contact with the Cogleap. I hope our choice today can also help other children’s future development. Another thing I absolutely love is that the teachers at Cogleap, especially Teacher Rose and Teacher Claire, really work hard for the children, which is really worth recommending.”
Shanbo Kang

“It’s a magical place that makes you feel at home… And when we discovered that our child feels the same way and loves coming here so much, we were so grateful and relieved. Part of the reason is that the staff here is so nice and welcoming, and the therapists truly care about your children from the bottom of their hearts. We’re so happy that after several weeks of training at Cogleap, our daughter’s willingness to communicate with others has greatly improved. This is exactly what I expected… (As a mother of an autistic child, what better therapy could there be other than helping your child to communicate)? I strongly recommend this place to parents with neurodiverse kids.”

HFS® training is flexible and can be provided both online and in person, supporting one-on-one or small group formats (up to four people), and also offers in-home services.
All HFS-certified trainers complete courses accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) Continuing Education (CE) program. Trainers play a crucial role in building strong connections with children and creating a supportive, positive, and inclusive environment. Following Dr. Edward Hallowell’s Five-Step Cycle, trainers engage with children through games and exercises during each 60-minute session, helping them achieve mastery and providing positive feedback. Children practice six structured motor skill exercises while listening to professionally processed bone-conduction music. After each session, trainers submit detailed feedback to the system, ensuring the next session is appropriately adjusted. HFS® training is strength-based and child-centered, aiming to improve social, emotional, and communication skills through engaging and challenging activities.
The HFS® is a program supported by neuroscience and AI technology, grounded in neuroplasticity. It integrates structured motor skill exercises, bone-conduction music, and static flow. The key principles include:
-
Five-Step Cycle: Developed by Dr. Edward Hallowell, an authority on attention and emotional regulation, this method builds deep trust between the child and trainer through connection and acceptance, boosting motivation and confidence.
-
Neuroplasticity: The training uses the science of neuroplasticity to strengthen brain connections through sensory stimulation and behavior training.
-
Multi-Modal Sensory Activation: Personalized sensory exercises activate different brain regions and enhance responsiveness to stimuli.
-
Music Listening: Specific frequencies in music are used to regulate emotions and focus.
-
Brain Learning Pyramid: A hierarchical approach that starts with sensory and motor coordination, building a strong foundation for higher cognitive functions like problem-solving.
-
HFS® training incorporates structured motor skill exercises aimed at systematically enhancing sensory processing, coordination, and communication skills. Unlike traditional physical activities, HFS® uses multi-modal sensory stimuli (e.g., visual, auditory, vestibular) to activate various brain regions and strengthen neural connections. This comprehensive approach improves the brain-body connection, enhancing both motor skills and cognitive functions.
Progressing from basic motor skills to advanced cognitive and executive functions requires gradual and consistent practice. Experts recommend training 2-3 times per week for 60 minutes to achieve optimal results.
Observable changes typically occur after about 12 sessions, with significant improvements seen around 40 sessions.
HFS® training helps children overcome challenges such as social and communication difficulties, hyperactivity, impulsivity, inattention, emotional regulation issues, and learning disorders. It is particularly beneficial for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, developmental delays, or those needing enhanced brain functionality. Benefits include:
-
Enhance auditory processing: Enhance comprehension and response to auditory and language information.
-
Better motor skills: Enhance coordination and fine motor control.
-
Heightened perception: Greater awareness of surroundings.
-
Enhance balance and spatial awareness: Enhance integration of sensory input for better performance in school and daily activities.
-
Increased confidence and achievement: As skills improve, children experience positive feedback and a sense of accomplishment, aiding in academic and social success.
-
The Focus 4 Success App allows parents to track their child's training content, progress, feedback, and summaries in real time. The app also offers resources on nutrition, sleep, and meditation, along with parenting workshops. Over 85% of parents reported improvements in behavior and attention during or after HFS® training, which is well-loved for its engaging approach.
Comparing HFS® Training to Traditional Occupational Therapy (OT)
HFS® Multisensory Training
Combines music listening with physical exercises to provide a multi-sensory experience, aiming to enhance both cognitive and emotional development simultaneously.
Traditional OT
Primarily focuses on functional tasks and fine motor skills, usually without incorporating multisensory integration like music and structured physical exercises.
HFS® Focus on Emotional Regulation
Emphasizes emotional regulation and awareness by providing personalized coaching.
Traditional OT
While it includes emotional support, it focuses more on skill and task training, with emotional development not being a primary emphasis.
HFS® Targeted Attention Training
Specifically designed to enhance psychomotor attention through structured activities.
Traditional OT
May involve attention-related exercises but generally has a broader focus on other skills and does not emphasize direct attention training.
HFS® Holistic Framework
Integrates music, physical activities, and emotional support, combined with AI technology, to promote comprehensive development in areas like attention, emotional regulation, and social skills.
Traditional OT
Typically focuses on specific functional areas without achieving the same level of multisensory and holistic integration as HFS.
HFS® Engagement and Motivation
Utilizes dynamic and varied activities, led by strength-focused coaches, to increase children's engagement and make the training process enjoyable.
Traditional OT
Can sometimes be perceived as monotonous depending on the selected tasks.
Neuroplasticity Enhancement
Incorporates exercises specifically designed to enhance neuroplasticity, promoting cognitive and motor skill development.
Traditional OT
Includes physical activities but may not systematically address neurophysiological changes or brain development issues in children.
These differences and advantages highlight that HFS® provides a more integrated and engaging approach through multi-sensory input and brain function enhancement. It focuses more on the simultaneous development of neurodevelopmental and emotional regulation compared to traditional OT.
Comprehensive Questions
HFS® Training not only helps all children discover hidden potential but is particularly crucial for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The training focuses on key areas like attention, behavioral and emotional self-control, and social communication skills, which are often the most needed areas of support for ASD and ADHD children.
HFS’s personalized approach targets foundational brain functions, enhancing children's focus, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills. This is vital for their learning, socio-emotional health, and future psychological development. Since early brain neuroplasticity is at its peak, early training can significantly improve their quality of life and developmental trajectory.
HFS® Training has achieved life-changing outcomes in enhancing academic performance, emotional management, and social interactions for children, bringing hope and joy to families. Early training helps children overcome challenges, integrate better into society, and enjoy a happy childhood.
HFS® Training is suitable for children from early school age (5-10 years) through early adolescence (11-14 years) and even late adolescence (15-18 years). The program is tailored to meet the unique developmental needs of children and teenagers at different critical brain development stages. HFS® uses multi-sensory brain stimulation components to address emotional and physical milestones appropriately.
HFS® Training uses multi-modal sensory stimulation to enhance neuron development in the brain, improving children's cognitive abilities and behavior. It does not restrict growth but instead builds foundational skills that promote well-rounded development.
Cognitive Enhancement: Training enhances attention, memory, language skills, and executive functions, helping children adapt better academically and socially.
Emotional and Behavioral Management: Children learn self-regulation and emotional control during training, which improves behavior and social skills, fostering healthier relationships and emotional stability.
Learning and Adaptability: Enhanced brain function makes children more flexible and adaptable when facing new learning tasks and challenges, increasing confidence and effectiveness in both academic and everyday situations.
Holistic Development: HFS® Training promotes balanced progress in academics, social, and emotional areas, without being limited to a single aspect, supporting comprehensive growth.
Therefore, HFS® Training aims to strengthen fundamental skills, facilitating children's growth across various domains rather than limiting their potential.
